In scientists` shoes

Does your child know whether apples are popular snack in Africa? Why do volcanoes exist? How do earthquakes happen? The best place to get all the answers is Muzeiko.

It is a science centre in Sofia that has an impact on the educational life in Bulgaria. It is one of the most beloved technology museums, where children from different ages, are given the chance to interact and feel like real scientists.

Students Grades 1 and 2 from British School Of Sofia visited Muzeiko as part of their IPC class, where they took a lesson on describing the birds` jaws, feet and the way they have food. After the lesson there was a guided tour, which covered the three floors of Muzeiko, thus entailing a visit to all the exhibits. This tour was led by members of the learning team of Muzeiko. The guides explained in an engaging and accessible way the most interesting aspects of Muzeiko’s world and assigned the kids certain tasks to be completed.

Actually, students were challenged to create birds by themselves, afterwards they got fun going through the scientific areas in the museum. From the Underground area, through the Scientific park they went to the Future exhibition place to find out who creates the world. There were many exhibitions that gave them a chance to feel like real scientists, researchers, artists and explorers, who do experiments.

Finally the young scientists concluded that learning through the role of play inspires curiosity and provides great minds. It encourages children to search and try out by themselves.
